The Microdermabrasion Procedure(back to top)
Microdermabrasion acts to remove the outer layer of skin in a highly controlled manner. Because of its preciseness, there is minimal pain or discomfort. This process when repeated multiple times, allows the younger softer skin to move to the surface, promoting beauty enhancement with discernible changes in texture, color and appearance.
Many practitioners recommend that Particle Skin Resurfacing is the first step in skin restoration, and that the laser be applied secondarily to only those isolated affected areas.

The Process - How It Works(back to top)
Microdermabrasion is achieved using a highly controlled spray of fine sodium bicarbonate crystals, (one hundred microns in size), under pressure and vacuum. The crystals literally "erase" the imperfections and sun damage, without damaging the skin's integrity. The results: a smoother, more youthful appearance.
A normal procedure should take 20-30 minutes, depending upon the skin condition, the area to be treated and the desired outcome. Patients will notice immediate improvement in the texture and appearance of their skin after the first treatment. The average patient requires between 5-9 treatments, spaced approximately one week apart.
Are you a candidate for Microdermabrasion?(back to top)
Dr. Dobson can best evaluate your skin condition and make recommendations as to whether you are a candidate for PSR. A complete consultation with a recommended treatment plan will be designed for you specifically. This will include the specified number of treatments and the time intervals between each treatment. Any issues or concerns you have will be discussed.
Patients who are in good general health, posses’ proper skin tone and a desire for realistic results are excellent candidates for PSR. Realistic results include reducing or eliminating fine lines, wrinkles, unwanted pigmentation and other superficial skin damage caused by aging or sun exposure.
